Public Notice: Impact of Federal Government Shutdown on SNAP & MFIP Food Benefits
Due to the ongoing federal government shutdown and suspension of federal funding, November Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) & MFIP Food benefits will not be issued unless federal funding is restored. The MFIP cash assistance portion will continue to be issued in November.
Aitkin County staff is working diligently to process as many applications as possible before this suspension of issuance for the SNAP & MFIP Food benefit takes effect.
You may still apply for SNAP & MFIP during this time. County staff will continue to accept applications, gather required verifications, and conduct interviews so cases can be processed once funding resumes.
We recognize the hardship this may cause and are committed to providing timely updates as the situation evolves. For local food resources, please visit: Find Food Aitkin County.
For ongoing updates, visit Federal shutdown information | Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families.
